Preparing for the Experience

What should I wear for truffle hunting?

We are in a proper forest, not a city park. It is essential to wear hiking shoes or boots with non-slip soles. We recommend dressing in layers and wearing long trousers, even in summer, to protect yourself from the undergrowth.

The walk through the woods lasts on average between 1½ and 2 hours. If you’ve chosen the experience that includes a tasting, allow around 3 hours in total to enjoy the walk at a leisurely pace.

Yes, the paths in our nature reserve are accessible, but they do involve walking on unpaved, slightly uneven ground. Pushchairs cannot be used; the experience is recommended for anyone with normal mobility.

Dogs and Nature

Can I bring my dog?

We love animals dearly, but we cannot allow dogs from outside the reserve to enter. The presence of another animal would distract our Lagotti, making their delicate tracking work impossible.

Truffles are wild fungi, and their growth depends on rainfall, temperature and luck. Thanks to the care we take of our truffle grounds and the keen sense of smell of our dogs, we are very likely to find some, but we cannot guarantee it 100%. The thrill of the experience lies precisely in experiencing the mystery of the hunt.

Weather and Bookings

What happens if it rains?

The hunt usually goes ahead even in light rain (the woodland is absolutely beautiful in such conditions!). In the event of heavy storms or bad weather that compromises safety, we will contact you to reschedule the outing or issue a full refund.

We accept payments directly at our premises in cash or by major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex). If you’d like to buy fresh truffles to take home, you can pay using the same methods.

Tasting and Purchasing

Posso comprare il tartufo che troviamo nel bosco?

Any truffles found belong to the reserve, but at the end of the hunt you will have first refusal to purchase them at the day’s market price, allowing you to take home a unique souvenir from Montalcino.

If you book the tasting, please let us know of any allergies or intolerances (gluten, lactose, etc.) in the ‘Notes’ field of the booking form or via WhatsApp. We’ll be happy to adapt the menu to suit your needs.
